This last November my family and I went to visit the Bavarian themed village of Leavenworth for a few days! I have always wanted to visit and heard so many great things, so I was thrilled to have the opportunity to go! We piled in our van rental and headed north from Portland the day before Thanksgiving! Thankfully, all the passes were clear and we arrived safely late at night. During the next couple days, we explored, hiked, visited shops and made tons of memories! During the holidays, Leavenworth is referred to as “Christmastown”, and the city is covered in lights! Starting the day after Thanksgiving and running all the way through mid-February, this festive town is all your Christmas dreams come true! Here are five winter activities to do in Leavenworth, Washington!

1. See all the lights and festive downtown shops!

One of our favorite parts was simply grabbing a warm drink, bundling up and taking in the sights downtown. There are lots of fun shops, a sledding hill, and other fun activities that happen during the winter months!

2. Visit the Leavenworth Reindeer Farm

This is a super popular attraction so you want to make sure you get tickets in advance (preferably a month or two in advance). Because of not knowing this, we sadly didn’t get to go; but it looks like so much fun! They have a couple different options for tickets/tours ranging from $25 – $40 per person. You get to feed the reindeer on all tours. They even have tours in spring, summer and fall where you can see baby reindeer!

3. Go sledding, tubing or skiing at the Leavenworth Ski Hill

You can’t go to a mountain town in Washington and not go enjoy one of these classic winter sports! During a normal year, the Leavenworth Ski Hill opens in early December, when they get their first heavy snowfall. They also offers lessons for all ages!

4. Go on a sleigh ride!

One of the most quintessential things to do during winter is a sleigh ride! Here are three great places to book with are Icicle Outfitter & Guides, Leavenworth Sleigh Rides and Eagle Creek Ranch Leavenworth’s Scenic Sleigh Rides. All are great options!
