Successful travel with toddlers is equal parts preparedness and equal parts going with the flow. Things don’t always go as planned, but with the right tools, preparation and knowledge it can be fun and a pretty special adventure! Here are three family airport amenities you need when traveling with toddlers!
Nursing rooms have become very common and you can usually find one in most airports! Sometimes you will even find one with dimmable lights making it the perfect spot to rest. For breastfeeding and pumping moms, nursing rooms are invaluable and a great asset.
Family restrooms are common, but the really nice ones are more sparse. Sometimes they have showers, are super roomy, and the perfect place to reset during a travel day. I also heard recently that some airports are family nap rooms?! What?! So cool!
More and more airports are implementing play areas which is awesome! That means most big airports have them! Score! These are perfect for long layovers and getting the wiggles out without having to worry about your kids bothering other travelers.
The key to these three family amenities is doing some research beforehand. Before leaving for your trip, check airport maps/websites and finding out which amenities they have! I always do some quick research about what airports we are traveling to/from and what amenities they have (and where they are in the airport!). This cuts down on time trying to figure it out when you’re in the middle of traveling.
I hope these tips were helpful and that it makes you feel more prepared as you head into your next trip! Traveling with toddlers is a journey. It has ups and downs, good times and hard times, but that’s part of the adventure. It is what you make it to be. Being flexible, going with the punches and being prepared will help you feel capable of enjoying the adventure.
